Why solar works especially well with standing seam
No roof penetrations required. Solar mounting systems clamp directly to the raised seams instead of drilling through the roof panels. This not only provides a faster, less expensive install, but also prevents the high leak-risk that comes with drilling directly through existing asphalt shingles
Designed for a long service life. Standing seam roofs last far longer than asphalt roofs, reducing the chance that solar panels need to be removed simply to replace the roof underneath.
Easy replacement and maintenance. Clamp-mounted systems are straightforward to remove, service, reposition, or upgrade as solar technology improves.
Reduces Risk of Moss and Rot. Solar panels create a shaded zone. When combined with textured asphalt shingles in the PNW’s wet climate, this creates high-risk of moss growth. The smooth surface of metal roofing gives moss less of an anchor and likewise makes cleaning much easier.
Aesthetics: We find that solar panels simply look more natural and attractive when installed over a metal roof vs. an asphalt roof.
